Marko Sosič (1958) is a SlovenIan writer and theatre director born in Trieste, Italy. He studied at the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb and has directed at various Slovenian and Italian theatres, as well as for television and radio. He was the artistic director of the Primorje Drama Theatre in Nova Gorica, and the artistic director and general manager of the Slovenian Permanent Theatre in Trieste for several years. He started publishing fiction in the late ’80s and is the author of several books, including two short story collections, an autobiographical chronicle about his time in the theatre and four novels. His work has been honoured with a number of awards for literature and theatre and so far translated into Italian, Croatian, Serbian and French.
