Polona Glavan (1974), writer and translator, began publishing her stories in literary magazines in the early 1990s. Her first novel, A Night in Europe (Noč v Evropi), was published in 2001 and shortlisted for the Kresnik Award for best novel of the year. It was followed by short story collection Guerillas (Gverilci), which was awarded the Zlata ptica Award for outstanding achievements of young artists. In 2014, Glavan published her second novel, No Matter How (Kakorkoli), to much critical acclaim; the novel was longlisted for the Kresnik Award and shortlisted for the Kritiško sito Award for best book of the year awarded by the Slovenian Literary Critics' Association, while the author received the Crystal of Vilenica Award 2015, bestowed to writers from Central Europe.
