Katja Perat (1988) is a PhD student at the department for Comparative Literature at Washington University in St. Louis. She is the author of poetry collections Najboljši so padli (The Best Have Fallen, Beletrina Academic Press, 2011), which received both the Best Debut Award and the Kritiško sito Award, the award bestowed by the Slovenian Literary Critics' Association for best book of the year, and Davek na dodano vrednost (Value-added Tax, LUD Literatura, 2014), a novel Mazohistka (The Masochist, Beletrina Academic Press, 2018), and a book of essays Naredite Ameriko spet obvladljivo (Make America Manageable Again, Cankarjeva založba, 2019). She lives between two global peripheries, St. Louis, Missouri, and Ljubljana, Slovenia.
