Aleš Šteger, one of the most translated and celebrated Slovenian authors today, is considered one of the great voices of contemporary Central European literature. Au-delà du ciel sous la terre (Above the Sky Beneath the Earth) is his first book to be published by Gallimard. The publisher about the collection:
With Šteger, there is a cosmic dimension that transports the poem into a timeless space, beyond the sky beneath the earth, where words are capable of recreating the world ad infinitum and drawing us into a dizzying metaphysical questioning. The perpetual contradictions of man emerge in these sharp, unfailingly lucid verses, which draw their energy from their conciseness. At the same time as the images take on a mysterious quality, Šteger reveals a refined lyricism of singular beauty.
