Suzana Tratnik (1963), writer, translator, sociologist and LGBT activist, lives and works in Ljubljana. She has published seven collections of short stories, two novels, a children's picture book as well as a monodrama based on her novel My Name is Damjan (Ime mi je Damjan). Tratnik was one of the founders of LGBT rights movement in Yugoslavia in the 1980s and was instrumental to the creation of one of Eastern Europe's most vibrant alternative culture scenes before the fall of the Berlin Wall. In 2007, she received the Prešeren Fund Award, the highest award for artistic achievement in Slovenia. Her books and short stories have been translated into over 20 languages, while she herself has translated several books of British and American fiction and non-fiction.
